Tuesday, November 30, 2010, in conjunction with one of the biggest attacks in recent years to democracy in our country, the approval of the House Ddl Gelmini of Deputies, carried out by a government deaf to the call made by hundreds of thousands of students, undergraduates, researchers barricaded the streets, and roofs of railway stations throughout Italy, it happened a matter of extraordinary importance.
Here in the city of Foggia, in one of the last provinces of the Empire, has developed an autonomous movement and original, totally for our new reality, which has seen share, in the mass, hundreds of young people of all ages united in every way to safeguard the public nature of the University, knowledge of culture in general.
With the occupation of the roof of the Faculty of Humanities, the assembly Autoconvocate, the unauthorized procession reached the town hall, Palazzo Dogana and the Faculty of Education, Law and Economics, the second meeting at the Rectory and finally the peaceful occupation of the same Faculty of Arts was given a lesson in civilization to the current political class.
What we want to build is not a mere juxtaposition ad un provvedimento di legge, bensì in una reale Alternativa che, partendo dall'Università, coinvolga tutte le categorie sociali in lotta per la difesa dei Beni Comuni.
Il tentativo di questo Governo e dei Poteri Forti, che dirigono il paese, di mettere in contrapposizione coloro che si stanno battendo contro ogni forma di privatizzazione e di distruzione dei Diritti Fondamentali è miseramente fallito.
Noi Studenti riuniti nella Facoltà di Lettere Occupata, prima esperienza del genere nei dieci anni universitari foggiani, abbiamo democraticamente assunto la decisione di aprirci a tutta la città con l'intento di far comprendere a pieno le ragioni della nostra protesta e di alzare la posta in palio: Saperi, Ambiente, Acqua, Lavoro e Cittadinanza non sono e non potranno mai essere merce di scambio.
Sappiamo perfettamente che questa idea fa paura e tale convinzione ci induce a perseguirla con sempre maggiore vigore. Il nostro futuro ce lo impone!

La manifestazione e l'occupazione di ieri non sono che il punto di arrivo di un percorso iniziato anni fa proprio nei corridoi della facoltà umanistica ed ora proseguito anche nel polo giuridico-economico, un percorso che oggi come allora si snoda sulle strade della difesa dei Saperi e di un'Università Pubblica, Libera e di qualità.
The goal of Students, not disaffected to the study and not all off-course as touted by the Minister Gelmini is to keep alive the mobilization, expand it and make it the ultimate weapon for the defense of our future and those who follow us .
